Vol. 11 No. 2 (2025): 12 Waiheru
This edition highlights the overarching theme of educational transformation in response to social, cultural, technological, and sustainability challenges in the contemporary era, with a particular emphasis on the local context of Maluku, linked to global dynamics. The narrative developed demonstrates that education is no longer simply a process of transferring knowledge, but rather a strategic space for fostering ecological awareness, multicultural identity, and adaptive capacity to changing times.
Several articles highlight reforms in educational paradigms, such as the shift from an anthropocentric to a biocentric approach in sociological education, and the transformation of indoctrination traditions in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) through a Qur'anic perspective. This theme emphasizes the importance of education oriented toward sustainability, spiritual values, and critical reflection in developing prospective educators and students who are more responsive to global issues.
Furthermore, the focus is on psychological and pedagogical aspects of learning, including the influence of self-esteem on mathematics achievement and teachers' perceptions of code-switching and code-mixing in classroom interactions. These articles demonstrate that learning success is strongly influenced by students' internal factors and the dynamics of classroom communication, underscoring the need for a more humanistic, contextual approach to education.
This edition also highlights innovations in the use of educational technology, ranging from interactive, environmentally focused e-books and digital platforms for interfaith dialogue to MOOC-based learning for civil servants. It illustrates that digitalization is not only a tool but also a crucial medium for expanding access, improving learning quality, and strengthening the values of religious tolerance and moderation.
Furthermore, this journal emphasizes the importance of strengthening social values and 21st-century skills, such as implementing multicultural education to build interfaith harmony, as well as training students in communication, leadership, and time management. Overall, this edition reflects an integrative effort to develop an education that is inclusive, adaptive, and rooted in local values, while simultaneously addressing increasingly complex global challenges.
